Popular singer, People’s Artist of Ukraine (2011), musical director and host of the TV program “Folk Music” of the National Television and Radio Company of Ukraine
Oksana Pekun was born in Ternopil on 22 November 1969. Now she lives in Kyiv.
After graduating from secondary and music school in Ternopil, she received a diploma of the Ternopil Pedagogical Institute (now Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Vladimir Gnatyuk). She qualified as a teacher of primary school and music.
When a student, she was part of the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Youth” under the direction of composer and arranger Alexander Burmitsky. The ensemble took part in the festival “Chervona Ruta-1991” and became a prizewinner at various international singing competitions.
The songs performed by Oksana Pekun became hits of the year in Ukraine for five years in a row. The song “Zelen Klen” (Green Maple) by Igor Poklad and Yuri Rybchinsky was announced the hit of the XX century.
The sound leader of Oksana Pekun’s team is composer and arranger Oleg Makarevich.
The singer collaborates with producer Vladimir Kovalenko.
She considers her participation in the International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” a significant milestone in her creative career.
