Leonid Shirin was born in Soligorsk on 11 August 1963.

He began his music studies in 1980. While studying at the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State University, he performed as part of the ensemble.

From 1988 to 1995, Leonid was in the “New Sky” band, composing music and arrangements.

He took part in the festivals “Basovishcha” (Poland, 1990 – 1993), “Roskide” (Denmark, 1993), “Golden Shlyager” (Belarus, 1999), “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” (Belarus, 1999, 2000).

From 1995 to 1998, Shirin headed the recording studio “Mezzo Forte”.

In 1999, he became director of the variety song studio at the Belarusian State University.

In 1999 and 2000, Leonid was a guitarist in Irina Dorofeeva’s band.

Between 2002 and 2007, he was the pop singer Corriana’s producer and co-author and arranger of the songs.

In 2006, Leonid Shirin and Denis Dudinsky formed “Da Vinci” pop band. He composed music, played the guitar and wrote arrangements for the band’s songs.

Shirin is the author of music for the films “Salvation Army”, “Major Vetrov”, “In June of 1941”, “Kiss of Socrates”, “Casual Acquaintances”, as well as for documentaries and TV projects.

He is the author of more than 200 songs for the Belarusian, Ukrainian and Russian artists, including the “Pesnyary” ensemble, Yadviga Poplavskaya, Alexander Tikhanovich, Inna Afanasieva, Irina Dorofeeva, Alexander Solodukha, Tina Karol, Natalia Podolskaya, Ruslan Alekhno, Vladimir Presnyakov, Alexander Serov.

In 2011, performing Leonid Shirin’s song “Heaven Knows”, Alyona Lanskaya won Grand Prix of the International Pop Song Contest “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”.

The composer is the winner of the National Music Award of Belarus in the nomination “Best Author of Music” (2011, 2013, 2014).

In 2015, he worked as a member of the International jury of the XXIV International Pop Song Performers Contest “Vitebsk”.
