HELLO, FESTIVAL!

The XXVI International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” starts today with the presentation of the exhibition project “the Great Rembrandt. True Masterpieces of the Genius” and the Drawing of Lots for the XV International Children Music Contest “Vitebsk-2017”.

The Festival, being the major cultural event of Belarus, has welcomed people of arts representing 5 continents and  more than 70 countries. Thus, this year 36 countries and about 5000 accredited participants, guests and organizers will take part in it, Nigeria and Ecuador to be represented for the first time.

The XXVI International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” will be held on July 13-17 with additional events on July 10-12 and July 18-19. 160 events will embrace 17 festival venues.

The headliners of the Festival programme are the XXVI International Pop Song Performers Contest “Vitebsk-2017”and the XV International Children Music Contest “Vitebsk-2017”.

The XXVI International Pop Song Performers Contest “VITEBSK-2017” welcomed 21 participants from different countries to be evaluated by the Jury headed by Yordanka HRISTOVA, Honoured Artist of Bulgaria, popular singer, producer (Bulgaria). The Jury Panel: Yadviga POPLAVSKAYA(Belarus), Felix LIVSHITZ(Israel), DEPSA(Italy), Gleb MATVEYCHUK(Russia), Filip ŽMAHER(Serbia), Kevin McCOY(USA), Vladislav BAGINSKY(Ukraine).

The same number of participants, 21, will compete in the XV International Children Music Contest “Vitebsk-2017”. The Chairperson – VARVARA, Honored Artist of Russia, the Special Diploma of the Union State Permanent Committee "For creative embodiment of ideas of friendship of peoples of Belarus and Russia" Holder (Russia) will preside over the Jury Panel of Victoria ALESHKO (Belarus), Lasha RAMISHVILI (Georgia), Alisher KARIMOV (Kazakhstan), Alberto Loreydis PEREZ ZAMORA (Cuba),Boban MOJSOVSKI (Macedonia), Zlata OGNEVICH (Ukraine).

On July 13, the “Star of the Nominee “Opening Ceremony will take place in the Square of Stars (Summer Amphitheatre) with Tamara GVERDTSITELI, Honored Artist of Russia and Honoured Artist of Georgia, being the Special Award of the President of the Republic of Belarus “Through Art To Peace And Mutual Understanding” Holder.

The major festival venue, the Summer Amphitheatre, will host 18 concerts, while 9 events will take place in the Concert Hall “Vitebsk”.

The  stage of the State Academic Drama Theater  named after Ya.Kolas will see 8 performances within the “THEATRE MEETINGS” project which is to be supplemented by  the Israeli arts masters’  Gala concert within the framework of the "FESTIVAL WITHOUT BORDERS" project,  and an exhibition dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Moscow State Theater In The Southwest "SOUTH-WEST BELAKOVICH’s PLANET ".

15 performances will be held in the Belarusian Theatre “LIALKA” within the project “PUPPET QUARTER” uniting artists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Sweden.

The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic Hall will host 4 festival events.

The Vitebsk Regional Local Lore Museum and the Art Museum will welcome visitors to attend their 7 festival exhibitions.

On July 14-16, within the framework of the XXVI International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", there will be the III Street Art Fest "On the Seven Winds". Its program will include about 80 events of more than one hundred creative groups of various trends and genres: street theaters, performers, poets, choreographers, puppet theaters and fire shows.

The area in front of the Concert Hall "Vitebsk", near the Frunze Park, will unfold FESTPICNIC, with representatives of Lithuania and Belarus presenting several street food pavilions. The famous “KAZIUKO MUGĖ” (fair) will treat Vitebsk to a traditional Lithuanian cuisine alongside with the retro-pavilion "GARAGE" and a yummy grill-kitchen from the Lithuanian barbecue association. Belarus is ready to surprise not only by its cuisine, but numerous creative projects as well.

The book of festival records is to be replenished with the subsequent events: The Opening Ceremony of the XXVI International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will shot by 10 photographers, each presenting 100 photos which are to be exhibited during the photosprint "10x100 HR" on July 14, in Mayakovsky Square, in front of the Board of Festival Directors. Another record will involve carving of the world's largest wooden spoon.
All in all, the III Street Art Fest will gather more than 500 participants from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden, Ecuador, Nigeria.
Victory Square will be the main venue of the Youth Day, held on July 15.

Vitebsk, being the headquarters of the World Association of Festivals (WAF)  and Alexander Sidorenko, the General Director of the State Institution "Centre of Culture Vitebsk", the director of the International Festival of Arts" Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk " being its president, will see the Board of Directors’ Meeting and the III International Festival Organizers Conference “Festival Movement. Traditions and Innovations.” The Laureates and Winners of different International festivals, WAF members, will take part in The «INTERNATIONAL VOICE in VITEBSK» Concert   and press-conference.

The Festival International Press Center will host 20 events: press-conferences, presentations, “Star Hours” with artists. The festival media coverage will be vested by 550 media representatives.

15 places of accommodation and 36 public catering places welcome the participants of the Festival.
