CONTEST LEADERS

It’s a unique event in the entire festival history that on the first contest day a contestant has received the highest scores possible (10) from all the jury members. That's what happened yesterday after the performance by Aleksey Gross from Belarus. Our compatriot got 80 points and a storm of applause from the audience in the Summer Amphitheatre.

Aleksey performed the song “I Wish”, composed by Grand Prix winner of “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk – 2004” Petr Elfimov. The song brought the contestant success.

The repertoire choice is extremely important for a creative competition, which was emphasized more than once by the well-established performers who came to the previous festival editions as part of the jury.

On the first contest day of the final round every participant was to sing a song by a composer from a Slavonic country and in any Slavonic language to the accompaniment of live orchestra. It’s clear that it was a most difficult task for the performers who do not speak Slavic languages. But yesterday's results showed that the language barrier was no obstacle for talented singers. The most important thing is to sing from your heart, which was highly appreciated by the jury members, giving high scores to Adam from Kazakhstan (77), Jorge Romano from Mexico (74), Eleonora Vecchio from Italy (73). The third place went to Ekaterina Fyrfa from Russia (75).

The audience expressed its liking to the Israeli Anna Timofey, giving her lengthy applause. Such recognition at “Slavianski Bazaar” is worth a lot!

The second part of the concert featured performances by the jury members of the International Pop Song Performers Contest “Vitebsk”: People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Nagima Eskalieva, Honored Arts Worker of Georgia Jemal Sepiashvili, People’s Artist of Moldova Constantin Moscovici, popular Croatian singer, Grand Prix winner of “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk- 2010” Damir Kedzo, People’s Artist of Belarus Alexander Tikhanovich and Yadviga Poplavskaya.
