MAGICAL WORLD OF THE CZECH CINEMA

The festival film program is in full swing. n July 16 the cinema-lovers were treated to the cinema art of the Czech Republic.

Before watching the film the audience could enjoy the performances by the representative of the Czech Republic at the XXV International Pop Song Performers Contest “Vitebsk-2016” Michaela Gemrotová and the Belarusian singer Olga Gornichar.

Then everybody plunged into the magical world of the Czech cinema. Why magical? Because the guests of the Cinema House were presented a fantasy “The Devil's Bride” by the Czech director Zdeněk Troška and based on the novel by Božena Němcová.

The story line is a classical tale that we can understand without translation. The young Queen wants to give birth to a baby and spends time in desperate pleas. Suddenly, there appears an unknown hermit on her way, the Devil, who promises to help but the agreement should be signed in blood.

Soon, a beautiful girl is born. The happy parents are overwhelmed with joy. Time passes and the young Princess needs to find a groom. Her heart is given to an ordinary guy Stepan, but the Evil has its plans: the young girl is to marry Lucifer.

Stepan’s courage and kind heart, his love and devotion defeat the evil forces and help the Princess escape a terrible fate.

Starring in the film are Sabina Laurinova (Queen), David Sucharipa (King), Eva Josefikova (Princess), Frantisek Nemec (Lucifer), Karel Zima (Hell), Vaclav Sanda (Stepán), Barbora Munzarova (Mother).

“The Devil's Bride” by Zdeněk Troška is the winner of the XVIII International Film Festival in Minsk in November 2011. The Czech film won in the nomination “films for children and youth”, received two awards from the children and adult juries.The film was highly appreciated at the International Family Film Festival in Russia.

The first time it was shown in the Czech cinema was in April 2011.
