Walter RICCI

Walter Ricci was born on 8 December, 1989, into a musical family. From his early age he was exposed to all sorts of musical genres, but it was jazz that attracted Walter most of all.

While still in high school, he began to perform in prestigious jazz clubs as a pianist-improviser.

In 2006, Walter won the International Massimo Urbani Award.

In 2008, he toured in Italy, France, Spain and Switzerland. That same year he was featured on Lorenzo Tucci’s new album "Touch", released in Japan.

In 2009-2010, he participated in the TV program "Domenica In" as a vocalist in Pippo Caruso’s orchestra.

Ricci also featured in Guido Pistocchi’s album “Spring Time” for “Dejavu Records”.

Collaborating with saxophonist Daniele Scannapieco, Walter created a tribute to the American composer Cole Porter. He also worked with jazz musicians Fabrizio Bosso, Stefano Di Battista.

In 2012, he was invited to perform as a guest with Luca Santaniello’s Quartet at Lincoln Center, New York (USA).

In 2015, he was one of the semifinalists of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in Los Angeles.

In 2016, Ricci was awarded first prize in the New Wave International Contest in Sochi (Russia).

Several interviews with the young singer have been published in “Jazz Magazine” and “Jazzit”.
