FESTIVAL CARVED SPOON AND OTHERS

An eight-meter long spoon, which claims to enter the Festival Book of Records, is to be carved by craftsmen from Belarus and Lithuania.

 The "City of Masters" Crafts Fair, located in the city’s central streets, with 300 craftsmen showing their skills, this year merged with the Vitebsk Region and all-Belarusian coachings, exhibiting their regions’ crafts, trademarks and amateur art.

FESTIVAL TRAIN

Train № 644/643 will connect Minsk and Vitebsk on July 11-20 during the ХХVI International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”. The Belarusian railway informs that the train will leave Minsk at 12.47 a.m. (dates July 11-19) to arrive in Vitebsk at 4.32 p.m. The train will leave for Minsk at 01.32 a.m. (dates July 12-20) to arrive at 05.17 a.m.

“ZADVINIE KIRMASH” INVITES

Like in the famous Kolorowe Jarmarki song with its’ dancing, singing, balloon floating and cookies the “Zadvinie Kirmash” (Fair) offers the visitors two kilometers of souvenirs, hand-made goods, jewelry, household items and décor,  alongside with the unique festival atmosphere. On the morning of July 10 Illinsky Str., Chaikovski Str., Sredne-Naberezhnaja Str. were already full of eager citizens and guests as it is there where more than 600  fair participants show their skills in ceramics, straw and lime, felting, making products from birch bark, flax, leather, fur, handmade dolls, vintage jewelry, and what not. The variety of techniques and materials give the fair some special flavor spiced with folk Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian crafts and trades.

MEETINGS IN "CITY OF MASTERS", DANCE UNDER THE OPEN SKY AND OTHER PROMISES OF VITEBSK

Thousands of guests arrive in July in the city on the Dvina River to plunge into the festival atmosphere.

One of the most popular events with the Vitebsk residents and guests from all over the world at "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" for many years has been the "City of Masters" Crafts Fair which gives a unique opportunity not only to admire original hand-made masterpieces in the best traditions of national cultures, but also to buy articles and goods produced by folk art masters.

The "City of Masters" Fair is to open on the Freedom Square on 13 July. The craftsmen will get the "residence" on the Tolstoy, Pushkin, Zamkovaya streets for five days, until 17 July.

DEDICATED TO THE BELOVED CITY …

The Press Service of Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee reports that three temporary tourist information centers will function in Vitebsk on July 11-17. Located next to the Town Hall, in Pushkin Street (next to the National Academic Drama Theater named after Yakub Kolas), in Ilinsky Street, they will operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There one can get all the necessary information on how to spend one’s free time in Vitebsk, get acquainted with the sights of Vitebsk region, take part in cultural events of the Festival and sightseeing tours.

FROM GRAND DUKE ALGIRDAS TO “SLAVIANSKI BAZAAR IN VITEBSK” OR THE DECENNIAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE EXHIBITION HALL “DUKHOVSKOI KRUGLIK”

The exhibition hall “Dukhovskoi Kruglik”, which can rightly be called a museum, possess a unique collection of exhibits connected with the International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”. The Festival originated in the 1990s and has overstepped the milestone millennium, and nowadays, renewed, reached the venerable for such forums of art age of 27. For Vitebsk citizens, guests, the ones interested in the city’s history and the Festival, the exhibition hall “Dukhovskoi Kruglik” opened its doors ten years ago. So, it’s time to recall the history of its creation and the people who contributed their time, knowledge and creativity to creating such an exhibition hall in Vitebsk, with the opportunity both to study the centuries-old past of the city and to marvel at photographs, documents, installations tracing the development of the “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”, creating legends and becoming history.
